ATEX

The ATEX 94/9/EC directive has been replaced by the ATEX 2014/34/EU directive which came into force on April 20th 2016 without transitional period.

 

MAIN INNOVATIONS

  • The EC declaration of conformity becomes an EU declaration of conformity.
  • The EC type-examination certificate becomes an EU type-examination certificate.

  • Importers shall indicate on the product their name and their postal address (or on the packaging if not possible).
  • The responsibilities involved with the establishment on the market of products (in particular traceability and monitoring requirements) are specified and reinforced for manufacturers, importers and distributors.
  • Requirements for the notification of conformity-assessment bodies are reinforced.
